Continental Airlines Arena is the home of the New Jersey Nets and hosts hundreds of various other events on an annual basis. Fans travel from far and near just to witness the NBA's home team take on it's rivals, as well as fellow tenants, The Devils, as they skate their way to victory. Many legendary moments have been witnessed at Continental Airlines Arena. Among them, The Devils have claimed three Stanley Cups in the past decade and the Nets made it to the NBA Finals for two consecutive years. Continental Airlines Arena has been the proud host of the 1982 NBA All-Star Game, the 1984 NHL All-Star Game and the 1996 NCAA Men's Final Four.
In addition, Continental Airlines Arena has been visited by many of music's greatest performers. It's modern acoustical structure offers audiences a powerful sound and fantastic view regardless of their seating. During it's inaugural year, in 1981, Continental Airlines Arena opened with half a dozen Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band shows, each of which were sold out. This legendary performer has frequented the arena through the years, including 1999 with a record 15 performances without a seat left in the house. Other top music artists, which have performed at Continental Airlines Arena include Elton John, Madonna, Billy Joell, Celine Dion, U2, Eric Clapton, Britney Spears and Bon Jovi among others.
Since opening in 1981, Continental Airlines Arena has been awarded with multiple industry recognitions, including the Prime Site Award received from Facilities and Event Management magazine, being recognized by Performance magazine eight times as 'Arena of the Year' and voted #1 Grossing Arena in North America in 1999 by Amusement Business.
Thousands of fans flock to the Continental Airlines Arena each year to watch the Nets and the Devils, both of whom call this home.
